#Ecommerce has grown dramatically in recent years, but it may not be the next true frontier for shopping as #mcommerce grows in popularity.
But what exactly is #mcommerce, and how do we compare it to #ecommerce?
#mcommerce refers to online shopping via a mobile device (typically a #smartphone), whereas #ecommerce refers to online shopping via a #computer. And #mcommerce is poised to enter the mainstream as a result of a slew of #technological advancements that make it easier for users to shop on their phones. Customers are interested in online shopping through #mobile due to the sharp increase in #internet connectivity, even in villages, and the availability of smartphones, and it has become the preferred channel for online shopping for at least the next five years.
Social media sites such as #Facebook, #Twitter, and #Pinterest have all introduced "buy buttons" that allow shoppers to make purchases without leaving the platform. In addition, many retailers have implemented one-click checkout on their websites. Customers must enter their payment information only once, and then they can use the one-click option to make purchases without having to re-enter it.
Mcommerce Market Share and Size
Retail #mcommerce sales will reach $359.32 billion in 2021, up 15.2 percent from 2020. Retail #mcommerce sales are expected to more than double to $728.28 billion by 2025, accounting for 44.2 percent of retail #ecommerce sales in the US.
Mcommerce Statistics
According to research, # mcommerce volume is expected to reach $620.97 billion in 2024, accounting for 42.9 percent of eCommerce. The two devices driving this revolution are smartphones and tablets.
The bottom line
There is, however, always room for improvement. As many as 90% of shoppers believe their mobile #commerce experiences could be improved. Pages and links that are too small to click on, as well as security concerns, are the two most common barriers to mobile shopping. If these issues are addressed, as well as providing product reviews for users, #mcommerce will grow more rapidly in the coming years.
